The National Talent Search Exam is a scholarship program organized by the NCERT every year. The NTSE scheme is awarded to the candidates for pursuing courses in science and social science up to doctoral level and in professional courses like medicine and engineering up to second-degree level. The NTSE is organized by various states as per the pre-scheduled dates.
Identification of talent comprises a two-stage selection process. The State/UT conducts the first stage selection, the second stage selection at the national level is carried out by the NCERT.
The NTSE Stage 1 exam was conducted by the States/UT’s authorities in October 2019. Now, the NTSE Stage 2 Exam will be organized soon. The Stage 2 National Talent Search Exam was scheduled in April 2020. But the exam was postponed due to coronavirus pandemic. Now, the NCERT is expected to release the NTSE Stage 2 New Exam Date soon. For the same, the NTSE Admit Card will be released by the NCERT and various regions SCERT authorities.

All students studying in Class X in any type of recognized school including Kendriya Vidyalaya, Navodaya Vidyalaya, and Sainik School etc. are eligible to appear at the State Level Examination from the State in which the school is located.
NTSE Exam 2020 Details
The state-level NTSE Examination may have two parts:
- Part-I Mental Ability Test (MAT)
- Part-II Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)
Mental Ability Test
There shall be 100 multiple-choice type items, with four alternatives. Each item will carry one mark. Candidates are required to answer the items on a separate OMR sheet as per instructions given in the test booklet and on the OMR sheet.
Scholastic Aptitude Test
The Scholastic Aptitude Test will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions carrying one mark each. Each question shall have four alternatives, out of which only one will be the correct answer. There shall be 40 questions from Science, 40 from Social Science and 20 from Mathematics. Candidates are required to mark an OMR sheet to be provided at the examination centre.
For both stages, the examination authorities release the NTSE Admit Card separately. The NTSE Stage 2 Admit Card will be released to the candidates who qualify the Stage 1 Exam. The authorities may announce the NTSE Exam Dates anytime. So, the students are advised to visit the website regularly for exam updates.
Details on NTSE Admit Card
On the NTSE Stage 2 Admit Card print, the candidates will get several details printed on it. Candidates must check that all the details are correct on the admit card. The details on the NTSE Hall Tickets shall be as follows:
- Candidate’s Name
- Candidate’s Roll Number
- Photograph
- Exam Venue and Date
The candidates will get the NTSE E-Admit Card through online mode only. The NTSE Call Letter can be download by putting application registration number and date of birth on the official website.
